Over the past few years a number of comprehensive Human Resources analyses were done, identifying the surplus of white collar and blue collar staff. For the most part we have achieved the set objectives. In relation to the monitoring of sick leave the analyses show, that sick leave is being mostly resorted to by older workers with chronic health problems. Due to the changes regarding the disability assessment criteria, the company is faced with an increasing number of disabled workers.

On the basis of the identified Human Resource needs and as a result of the changing technologies and subsequent re-engineering of work process, we have been focusing on the employee training and multiskilling in order to create a workforce capable of rising to the challenge and to prevent a number of people from losing their jobs at the same time.

By introducing an extensive programme of purpose-focused training and education courses and seminars conducted both externally and in-house, we have provided our employees with:

  • ongoing education and training in the area of new theoretical knowledge and practical skills,
  • information regarding the changes in the legislation, regulations and procedures in relation to individual working areas and professional areas,
  • opportunities to attend foreign language courses in order to improve their business performance in the international environment,
  • new skills, individually and as a team, in relation to particular or specific work processes and operation of plant and machinery,
  • the means and access to the completion of various professional certificate courses and acquisition of licenses required by legislation in order to qualify for certain jobs, management of particular projects and to be able to represent the company before the various Government bodies.

By motivating the workers and providing them with the financial support we have enabled and encouraged the employees, who had been performing the jobs for which higher education is stipulated by the law, to pursue the relevant additional studies in order to acquire the knowledge and degrees required by the legislation, which would also contribute to their improved performance on the job and increase their chances for professional advancement.

We have continued with our policy of providing job opportunities to the locals by offering scholarships for the undersubscribed building profession certificate levels IV and VII, by providing the students with the opportunities for practical experience and by employing graduates with the purpose of their fast and successful integration into the workforce.

We have also been monitoring and looking after the development of our human resource potential and shall, on the basis of analyses of options, needs and interests, build an environment enabling the maximum development and utilisation of the intellectual potential of individuals with a view to maximise the results of their work and rationalise the organisation of the individual work or professional functions and company areas.
